MCUR Mission Statement
Research is the process of creating new knowledge. Used by all disciplines, research can take on many different forms, from scientific theory testing to artistic endeavors. Undergraduate students at the University of Maryland are encouraged to both conduct research and reflect on the process as they embark on their journey through a world filled with constantly changing information.
Student Learning Outcomes
As a result of participating in undergraduate research, students will be able to:

- Understand multiple approaches to problem solving
- Demonstrate research skills
- Develop research problems on their own
- Examine problems and formulate research questions
- Take responsibility for their own learning

The Maryland Center for Undergraduate Research (MCUR) was established in 2002 as a center on campus dedicated to promoting and facilitating research experiences for undergraduate students. MCUR is the key resource and reference point for on- and off-campus research opportunities; provides faculty members assistance in finding research assistants and allows for the exchange of information on the integration of research into the teaching and learning process.
